The 12th Organ Academy will be held during 22 - 29 of June and consists of workshops, masterclasses, concerts and excursions. Registration is possible either as an active or non-active participant. During the Academy, which is open to students and both professional and amateur organists, participants will enjoy extensive guidance from international specialists.
The repertoire for the academy has been chosen to demonstrate the relationship between the music and the special characteristics of the teaching organs.
The lessons will take place in the Grote St Laurenskerk in Alkmaar, using both world famous organs; the Van Covelens organ of 1511 and the 1646/1725 Van Hagerbeer/Schnitger organ. Classes will also be held on the beautiful Müller organs of the Lutherse Kerk (1755) and the Kapelkerk (1762) in Alkmaar, and the Grote Kerk in Beverwijk (1756). The academy provides therefore a unique opportunity for organists to gain experience in playing on some of Europe's most inspiring historic organs.
The faculty of the international organ academy will consist of renowned international organists:
Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, Professor harpsichord and basso continuo at the Schola Cantorum in Basel.
Pieter van Dijk, Professor of Organ at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and at the Hamburg Hochschule für Musik und Theater.
Arvid Gast , Director of the Church Music Institute at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck.
Joris Verdin, Organteacher at the Artesis College of Music in Antwerp (Conservatory) and professor of Organology at the University of Leuven.
Frank van Wijk, Organ teacher and organist of the Ruïnekerk in Bergen (NH)
Daniel Zaretsky, Professor of Organ at the St. Petersburg State University and the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
