Peter and the Wolf
op. 67 (1936)
Transcription for Organ Duet by
Roberto Antonello
The famous musicpiece "Peter and the Wolf" van Sergej Prokoviev has been transcribed by the ECHO-Cities (European Cities of Historical Organs) in nine different languages for organ with two organists and a narrator.
It is meant to communicate with children in a contemporary way and the combination of telling the fairy tale and listening to the organ music can produce a fantastic result
During this festival the two ECHO organists Roberto Antonello en Maurizio Croci will perform this work four handed in the Laurentiuskerk in Alkmaar
The narrator is Huib Ramaer
In the church the children will all gather around the console of the organ so that they will be able to see the organists perform.
We wish all children, their parents and grandparents much pleasure in listening to this music.
The Pels organ from 1950 in the Laurentiuskerk in Alkmaar
In this organ transcription, the orchestral instruments playing the themes atached to the single characters are substituted by different organ stops, portraying the imitative possibilities of the "king of the instruments".
